OGDEN, Utah -- The Big Sky Conference announced the Big Sky Conference track & field athletes of the week for the first week of outdoor competition. Northern Colorado freshman Terrence McGaughy and sophomore Justine Sandersfeld were both named co-track athletes of the week.

 

McGaughy qualified for the Big Sky Championship in the 100 meters and the 200 meters at the Potts Invitational in Boulder, Colo. He ran 10.76 in the 100 and 21.40 in the 200, and ran the anchor leg in the winning 4x100 meter relay team. Sacramento State's Ronald Brookins shared the honor with McGaughy.

 

Sandersfeld broke a school record in the 400 meters with a time of 56.01 Saturday at the Potts Invitational in Boulder, Colo. Sandersfeld took first in the race and qualified for the Big Sky Championship. She also ran the anchor leg on the winning 4x400 meter relay team. She shares the honor with Kristina Holtz of Sacramento State.

 

Daniel Imlach from Sacramento State and Cassie Merkley from Idaho State were named the men's and women's field athletes of the week, respectively.

 

Northern Colorado returns to the track on Saturday at the Rob Upton Invitational hosted by Colorado State. Events are scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
