Ram Open Saturday, April 19, 2008 Fort Collins, Colorado Christiansen Field 10:00 a.m. Back To Ram Land Northern Colorado travels to Fort Collins for the first of back-to-back weeks at Colorado State. This week, the Bears compete in the Ram Open which will also act as a dual meet between the Bears and Rams. Other teams scheduled to compete are Air Force, Colorado and Wyoming in a regional match-up. Made To Be Broken Sophomore Justine Sandersfeld broke the school record in the 400 meters for the second time this season, running a 55.60 at the prestigious Sun Angel Classic to break her own record of 56.10 from the Potts Invitational. New & Improved The Bears qualified two new student-athletes for the Big Sky Championship in the two meets over the weekend. Freshman Jillian Hoblitt ran a 57.85 in the 400 meters at the Sun Angel Classic, while sophomore Marty Wittmer clocked a 54.08 in the 400 meter hurdles at the Colorado Invitational. Senior Jeff Vaden improved his time in the 110 meter hurdles, winning the event at CU with a time of 14.88. Northern Colorado has now qualified six women for the Big Sky Conference Championship and there are 10 qualifying marks on the men's side. The conference championship will take place May 16-17 at Sacramento State. Best In The Big Sky Sophomore Rachel Stevens is currently tied for the top clearance in the Big Sky Conference this season at 5-7. Freshman Terrence McGaughy ranks second in the 100 meters and the men's 4x100 relay is also second. Senior Jeff Vaden is tied for third in the long jump, junior Patrick Berg is third in the shot put and second in the discus. Sophomore Justine Sandersfeld ranks third in the 400 meters and Ashley Stec is third in the 400 hurdles. The women's 4x400 relay also ranks third among Big Sky teams. |
