2006: Played in 47 games, starting 30, in his junior season ... had eight starts in leftfield, one in centerfield and 21 in right field; also saw action as a late-inning defensive replacement ... started the season with an offensive punch, leading the team in hitting at .404 on March 7 ... that stretch including back-to-back games of 4-fof-5 at the plate - his career-high for hits; first game came on March 5 at New Mexico, when he added a run scored, a double and a RBI while the second game was at Air Force (Mar. 7) when Gorman had two runs scored, three RBI and a home run ... against New Mexico State (Feb. 26), was 3-for-5 with two runs scored, four RBI and a pair of home runs ... struggled late in the season at the plate, but broke out of an 0-for-12 slump with a single at No. 12 Arkansas (Apr. 19); later in that same game, he singled with two outs in the seventh inning to start a three-run rally as the Bears defeated the nationally-ranked Razorbacks 4-2 ... recorded an RBI with a bases loaded walk against Nebraska-Kearney (Mar. 15); did not record another RBI for 43 at-bats, when he also singled with the bases loaded off All-American closer Don Czyz in a 7-4 victory at Kansas (May 15) ... in the first game at Kansas (May 14), had an outfield assist with one out in the ninth inning to nail a runner at second base and help preserve the Bears victory ... was 3-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBI against Nebraska-Kearney (Mar. 15) ... had a bases loaded triple against Lamar (Feb. 4) at the UTPA Classic; drove in four runs in that contest ... hit .333 (5-for-15) in eight games against teams that made the 2006 NCAA Tournament ... was 4-6 (.667) with the bases loaded.
2005: Played in 43 games, starting 33, in his first season after transferring into the program ... one of the top newcomers among all Division I Independents ... named D-I Independent Newcomer of the Week on April 26 after hitting .429 (6-for-14) with a game-winning RBI, home run, six RBI and a stolen base in games against Air Force and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi ... his single in the seventh inning against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Apr. 22) broke a 2-2 tie and led the Bears to a 6-2 victory as UNC handed Islander ace Trey Hearne his first loss in 13 months ... in the final game of the series against TAMUCC, hit a three-run, pinch-hit home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Bears a 17-16 lead, although Northern Colorado would eventually lose 19-17 ... in the eighth inning against South Dakota State (May 20) at the Division I Independent Invitational, hit a two-run home run that broke a 3-3 tie and helped the Bears to a 5-3 victory and eventually the invitational championship; was named to the all-tournament team at the event after hitting .444 (4-for-9) with three runs, four RBI and a .889 slugging percentage in the three games ... played against his younger brother Reece when the Bears battled Metro State (Apr. 13); robbed his brother of a hit on a diving catch in right field in the second inning as Bears won 20-2 ... went a combined 5-for-8 in a two-game set at No. 14 Arkansas (Apr. 5-6), raising his batting average by 52 points ... against BYU (Apr. 26), was 2-for-4 with a two-run double off the wall in center field in the fifth inning that tied the game at seven as the Bears came from behind to win 12-7 ... 17 of his 21 RBI on the season came in seven total games ... hit .394 (13-for-33) with six runs, two doubles, three home runs, 11 RBI and a .727 slugging percentage in 11 games against Division I Independents ... hit .351 (13-for-37) with runners in scoring position and .340 (16-for-47) with two outs ... had 10 multi-hit and seven multi-RBI games and a long hitting streak of five to end the season.
Prior to UNC: Played freshman season at Dodge City Community College in Dodge City, Kan. for coach Erick Wright ... hit .295 with 10 home for the Conquistadors ... 10 long-balls ranked second on the team, as did his RBI total ... had a .500 slugging percentage and was 4-6 in stolen base attempts.
High School: Earned four letters in baseball at Chaparral High for coach Steve Eaton ... All-Colorado and all-state selection as a senior in 2003 ... team won Continental League championship during his senior season ... also played football, earning all-conference honors his senior season ... member of the honor roll.
