2006: Played in 34 games, starting 15, during his sophomore season ... had his two biggest plays of the year come a week apart at the end of the season ... against Big 12 Tournament Champion Kansas (May 14), hit his first career home run, a solo blast to right field that put the Bears on top 1-0 on their way to a 7-4 victory and sweep of the Jayhawks ... the extra-base hit was only the third of his career ... seven days later (May 21) against North Dakota State in the championship game of the Division I Independent Invitational, hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning to put the Bears on top 6-1 as the team won its second consecutive independent championship ... after being 0-for-12 at the plate in 19 career games, got his first career start and hit against Air Force (Feb. 8) in a game played in Pueblo; doubled in the third inning for his first hit and later drove in a pair of runs, finishing the day 3-for-5 ... he was not scheduled to start that game against Air Force but got his chance when regular starter Chad Clark became sick before the contest ... was 2-for-3 with a walk at Air Force on March 7 ... got second career start at Texas A&M (Feb. 19), where he singled ... had a pair of hits, two runs scored an a RBI in the New Mexico State series (Feb. 24-26) ... was 1-for-4 with two runs scored, a RBI and his first career triple against Nebraska-Kearney (Mar. 15) ... in the KU game in which he homered, was 2-for-4 with two runs scored as well ... hit .600 (3-for-5) in games against teams that made the 2006 NCAA Tournament ... D-I Independent All-Academic selection.
2005: As a true freshman, played in 18 games as a pinch hitter and defensive replacement ... did not record a hit during the year but did drive in a run on March 29 against Air Force, with a groundout to first base in the sixth inning; the Bears scored eight times that inning on their way to a 15-6 victory ... scored runs against each Creighton (Feb. 20) and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Apr. 24).
High School: Earned a pair of letters at Mullen High for coach Tony Schenbeck ... was co-captain his senior season and helped the Mustangs into the district playoffs while playing shortstop ... also played wide receiver for the football team ... National Honor Society member, honor roll selection and Spanish honor roll selection.
Personal: Born Dec. 7, 1985, in Denver ... son of Bruce and Patricia Horn ... majoring in accounting ... although somewhat reserved, has a great sense of humor; after the Bears captured the Division I Independent Invitational Championship at home with a 8-3 victory over New York Institute of Technology, made good on a promise to do the famous dance from the movie Napoleon Dynamite at home plate in front of the 400-plus fans in attendance.
