2006: In his first year with the program, appeared in 15 games, starting four ... shared the team lead for victories (4) ... struck out 43 batters (fifth most on the team) and walked only 15 in 45 innings of work ... struggled as a starter, compiling a 19.89 ERA in his four starts, where he went a combined 0-3 ... move to the bullpen, however, agreed with him as he racked up a 3.90 ERA in his 11 relief appearances ... was outstanding at the Division I Independent Invitational, pitching 7.1 innings, allowing 11 hits and three runs while striking out seven and walking only two in appearances against North Dakota State (May 18) and NYIT (May 20) ... against NDSU, pitched two innings, allowing only three hits and striking out three ... followed that with 5.1 innings of relief after starter Chris Johns lasted only 1.1 innings; Bears came from behind to win that game and eventually won the tournament championship ... after starting the season 0-4, won his final four decisions of the year to finish the year at 4-4 ... first victory came at BYU (Mar. 25), when he pitched four innings and allowed three runs in an 11-7 win ... second win came at Utah Valley State, when he pitched four innings and struck out six ... also won at No. 12 Arkansas (Apr. 19), pitching 1.1 innings and allowing two hits and one run as the Bears topped the nationally-ranked Hogs 4-2 ... pitched 1.2 innings at No. 29 Wichita State (May 10), allowing only one hit while striking out one in a game the Bears would eventually lose 5-4 in 14 innings ... entered the game against South Dakota State (Apr. 8) and pitched 6.1 innings, allowing nine hits and two runs while striking out six, in keeping the Bears close in a game they would eventually lose 10-8 ... pitched final 1.2 innings of season-opener against Texas-Pan American (Feb. 3), allowing three hits and the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth ... pitched two innings against Air Force (Feb. 8), allowing only one hit while striking out two ... had a team-low 2.79 ERA in 19.1 innings against Division I Independents during the season; struck out 19 and walked only five in those five appearances.
Prior to UNC: Played two seasons at Seward County Community College in Liberal, Kan. ... was 6-2 with two saves as a freshman as the Saints advanced to the JUCO World Series ... followed that up with an 8-4 record, one save and 3.00 ERA as a sophomore ... in 2005, appeared in 19 games, striking out 45 and walking only nine in 63 innings of work ... was an All-Jayhawk Conference selection in 2005 ... team finished that season 38-24 overall and 21-11 in conference play, which placed them second in the Western Division.
