Kendrick Shaver enters his first season with Northern Colorado football and will be responsible for the secondary.
Shaver comes to the Bears' program after coaching the secondary at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M last year. He was also the recruiting coordinator and monitored the academics of the football student-athletes.
Prior to Northeastern, Shaver spent two years as a graduate assistant coach at Eastern Kentucky University, where he worked with the defensive backs and assisted with the special teams.
In 2002, Shaver was the defensive backs and receivers coach at Hillcrest High School in Springfield, Mo.
Shaver played two seasons (1998-99) at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Junior College before transferring to Missouri State (formerly Southwest Missouri State), where he was a free safety and cornerback in 2000 and 2001. He spent the 2003 season playing for the Sioux Falls Storm of the NIFL before committing to coaching full-time.
Shaver graduated from Missouri State with a bachelor's degree in business in 2002 and went on to earn his master's degree in physical education from Eastern Kentucky in 2005.
