Northern Colorado's men's tennis team fought hard through the singles portion of its dual with Northern Arizona, but the Lumberjacks were just too strong. The Bears failed to win a point during the doubles portion of the dual, but their Nos. 1, 2 and 3 singles player all came close to match victories once singles play began Wednesday, Feb. 19, on the Butler-Hancock Tennis Courts. Vinnie Fallico came up just short at No. 1 singles, falling 6-4, 6-3; Austin Nunn, at No. 2 singles, took Northern Arizona's Chris Arena to a third-set before falling 7-6 (4), 3-6, 10-5; and, at No. 3 singles, Paul Tschetter took NAU's Bradley Bristow to a third set before losing 6-0, 4-6, 10-7. Nunn and Ryan Dunn came came the closest to victory in the doubles competition, falling 8-6 at No. 2 doubles. The Wednesday afternoon match was Northern Colorado's last before a busy weekend. The Bears will host Big Sky foe Portland State at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 22, before hosting the University of Missouri-Kansas City Kangaroos at 10 a.m. Sunday, March 23.
