Austin DeVoe Position: Assistant Coach (2nd season) Alma Mater: Missouri

Austin DeVoe is in his first season as assistant coach for the Northern Colorado wrestling team.

DeVoe will be counted on to assist the Bears' transition to the newly formed Western Wrestling Conference.

DeVoe comes to Greeley after a collegiate career wrestling for perennially ranked University of Missouri. Grappling in the 125-pound bracket, DeVoe finished his senior season 31-16 and was ranked No. 16 nationally.

For his career, the Columbus, Kan. native was 74-46. During his junior season he was one of five Tigers to participate at the University Nationals, taking first with a pin fall victory 42 seconds into the gold medal match.

In February 2002, he was named Most Outstanding Wrestler for the Missouri Valley College Open.

During his freshman campaign, DeVoe placed fifth at the University Nationals and second at the Federation Internationale des Luttes Associees (FILA) Junior World National Championships.

For his high school career, DeVoe compiled an astounding 150-3 record for Columbus Unified High School. Under head coach Todd Napier, he took second in the state tournament as a freshman, and proceeded to win the title each of the next three seasons. He was the Kansas High School Class 4A Wrestler of the Year in 2001, and winner of the 2001 Western Junior Regional Championship. As a sophomore, he finished third at the Junior Nationals All-American Freestyle Tournament.

Austin is the son of Steve and Debbie DeVoe, and was born March 6, 1983 in Joplin, Mo.
