ST. LOUIS, Mo. - At the 2008 NCAA Wrestling Championship, sophomore 125-pounder Tony Mustari ended his season in the third consolation round, while Hopkin won his first bout and fell in consolation round four.

 

Mustari fell in consolation round three, 5-4, to Eric Morrill of Edinboro. Morrill took the early 4-1 lead in the first period, but Mustari tallied an escape in the second period. In the final stanza, Morrill got an escape and Mustari recorded a takedown, but was unable to muster any more points for the 5-4 decision. Mustari ends his sophomore season with a 32-8 record and is now 55-18 for his career.

 

Hopkin defeated Zach Sheaffer of Pittsburgh 2-0 in consolation round three. Hopkin got an early takedown in the first period for the only scoring of the bout. The victory is the 100th of Hopkin's career as he becomes only the fourth wrestler in Northern Colorado history to record 100 wins.

 

Hopkin ended his career with an 8-0 loss to 18th-ranked John Wise of Illinois in consolation round four to end the Friday morning session. Hopkin ends his stellar career with a record of 100-32 after posting a 2-2 record at the NCAA Championship.
