Coach Bruce on Diane: ÒAlready an outstanding athlete, Diane has come back this fall with lots of improvements to her individual game. She is not only an outstanding three-point shooter, but now she is able to put the ball on the floor and score off the dribble, something that was not a part of her game last year. This will make her much more of a threat on the offensive end. On the defensive end Diane is becoming a much better man-to-man defender. For us to compete in the NCC this winter, Diane must step up her scoring, her all-around floor game, and her defensive play. Her solid preseason has shown she is quite capable of this.Ó

1998-99: Made an immediate impact as a freshman, scoring in double figures in her first four games as a Bear, including 17 in UNCÕs season opener against New Mexico Highlands on 5 of 8 three-point shooting....Played in all 28 games last season, starting 18....Made at least one three-point field goal in her first eight collegiate games, and 23 of her first 24. Only a frigid 0-for-6 game at Alaska-Fairbanks kept her from going 24 straight....Her 15 straight games with at least one three-point field goal broke the previous record of 10 set by Denise Nehme....Set a UNC record for most three-point shots attempted in a game with 12 at Morningside. By making 7 of those she tied the school record....At St. Cloud she poured in 23 points on 5 of 11 three-point shooting to go along with a season-high four rebounds. 23 remained her season high until the Huskies visited Greeley, a game in which she hit for 26 points on 8 of 13 shooting (5 of 9 three pointers) to go along with four rebounds, four assists, and three steals....Her 65 made three-point shots was the second best season in school history, ranking just behind Missy McVoyÕs 71....Already ranks number seven on the UNC all-time list after just a single season....Named Co-NCC Player of the Week in early February....Postseason recognition included being named to the WomenÕs Division II Bulletin All-Freshman Team, as well as being named NCC Freshman of the Year, honorable mention All-NCC, and UNC Rookie of the Year.

High School: A 1998 graduate of Lamar High School....formed an impressive inside-out tandem with current Colorado Buffalo Britt Hartshorn at Lamar, where together they won four state championships....led state in scoring as a senior with a 21.0 average and three-point shooting percentage (.425)....three-time all-conference selection....two-time first-team all-state selection....named honorable mention All-American by USA Today as a junior and senior....scored over 1,000 points in her career....three-time all-conference, two-time all-state selection in softball.

Personal: Born February 13, 1980, in Lamar....daughter of Wayne and Doreen Dittburner....majoring in dietetics....favorite book: Reach for the Summit by Pat Head Summitt.
