GREELEY, Colo. - The University of Northern Colorado women's basketball team evened its Big Sky Conference record with a 75-48 victory over Sacramento State entering the Big Sky Tournament with a two game winning streak. Northern Colorado ends the regular season with a 14-15 overall record and an 8-8 mark in Big Sky play, while Sacramento State ends its season 6-22 overall and 4-12 in league action. Senior center Danielle Hagen, playing in her final regular season game, notched a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, shooting 7-of-10 from the field. Freshman guard Courtney Stoermer also tallied a double-double, tallying a career-high 12 assists to go along with 10 points. Freshman guard Kate Kevorken led the game with 16 points and had a career-best five assists, while junior guard Jamie Schroeder had 14 points, six rebounds and two steals in just 21 minutes. Sacramento State was led by Erika Edwards with 12 points and eight rebounds, while Jasmine Cannady led the team with four assists and Atty Boyer led all players with three steals. The Hornets shot just .262 from the field and .259 from beyond the arc, but hit .818 from the free throw line, making 9-of-11. "I think a lot of the girls played for Danielle tonight," said Head Coach Jaime White. "You get a little more energy when you play for somebody else and I think they did a good job. It was a great game for Danielle - we were trying to get her as many points as we could. But altogether, I think everybody played really well." Sacramento State scored the first point of the game, but the Bears scored the next seven and never looked back, leading by as many as 37 points with 9:29 remaining in the contest. With the conclusion of the regular season, the seeds for the Big Sky Tournament are set. Montana earned the number one seed with a 13-3 record, while Idaho State is the two seed with its victory over Weber State earlier today. They both receive byes in the first round of the tournament, which will be at Montana in Missoula. Montana State, which defeated Eastern Washington 65-54 this afternoon is the third seed, winning the tie-breaker over Portland State, which defeated Montana today 72-62. Northern Colorado is the fifth seed and will play Portland State in the first round, while Northern Arizona rounds out the tournament field by virtue of its sweep over Weber State. The Bears and the Vikings will meet in the second game of the day on Thursday, March 13. Times are to be determined.
