Northern Colorado (7-8-3, 3-2-2 Big Sky) vs. Weber State (7-7-3, 3-2-2 Big Sky )Date: Friday, Nov 9 Time: 11 a.m. PST Place: Hornet Soccer Field Series: Weber State leads 3-0-0 Last Meeting: 10/18/07, Weber State won 1-0 Northern Colorado/Weber State vs. Portland State (7-9-2, 3-3-1 Big Sky) or Sacramento State (10-3-5, 4-0-3 Big Sky) Date: Sunday, Nov. 11 Time: 11 a.m. PST Place: Hornet Soccer Field Series: Portland State leads 3-0-0 Series: Sacramento State leads 1-0-1 Last Meeting:10/28/07, Portland State won 1-0 Last Meeting: 10/26/07, Sacramento State and Northern Colorado tied at 1-1 Northern Colorado's Soccer Team Heads To Big Sky Tournament This Week: The Northern Colorado women's soccer team (7-8-2, 3-2-2 Big Sky), who earned the third-seed with their win last week over Northern Arizona, will make the squad's first ever appearance in the Big Sky Soccer Tournament against second-seed Weber State (7-7-3, 3-2-2 Big Sky) on Friday, Nov. 9 at Hornet Field at 11 a.m. PST. A victory will bring the Bears one step from reaching the NCAA Tournament for the first time since making the transition to Division I and a match up against either fourth-seed Portland State (7-9-2, 3-3-1 Big Sky) or first-seed Sacramento State (10-3-5, 4-0-3 Big Sky) at 11 a.m. PST on Sunday, Nov. 11. Scouting Weber State: The Wildcats (7-7-3, 3-2-1 Big Sky) earned the second seed and will take on the Bears with a possible NCAA berth on the line in the Big Sky Tournament. Senior forward Natalie Blaylock leads the offensive effort for the Weber State with three goals. Sophomore midfield Kelsie Ehlers leads the team in points with eight and tied for the team lead with four assists. Senior defender Cassidy Williams also tallied four assists this season. Sophomore goalkeeper Rebecca Ritchie has four wins and five shutouts. Hayley McCoy was a first-team all-Big Sky selection with two goals and three assists. Junior defender Ashtyn Webster was a second-team all-Big Sky choice. The Wildcats played five overtime games on the season and went 1-1-3. Scouting Portland State: The Vikings (7-9-2, 3-3-1 Big Sky) fell to Sacramento State in the last game of the regular season to fall to fourth in the final Big Sky standings. Tarah Authier leads the offensive attack with five goals and 10 points. Sophomore Dolly Enneking has tallied six assists this season to lead the squd. Her 10 points tie her with Authier for the team lead. Sophomore goalkeeper Cris Lewis has five wins and four shutouts on the year. Senior defender Juli Edwards was named the Defensive MVP and a first-team selection in the conference. As a forward, Enneking was a second-teamer for the Vikings. Scouting Sacramento State: The Hornets (10-3-5, 4-0-3) earned the top seed and the opportunity to host the conference tournament with their victory over Portland State in the final game of the regular season. Senior Katie McCoy, the reigning Big Sky Offensive MVP, lead the team and conference with 12 goals and seven assists for 31 points. Among her 12 goals, five were game-winners for Sacramento State. Senior Amanda Gray also has had a noteworthy season with six goals and three assists for 15 points. The third member of the dynamic trio is sophomore forward Kim Kemper. Kemper has three goals and seven assists on the season. Sophomore goalkeeper Mandy Trojan is 9-3-5 with eight shutouts on the year. The Hornets have yet to lose a game at home on the year and are 9-0-1. Sac State dominated the post-season awards with defender's Kara Taylor and Katie Burton being first-team selections. Kemper and Gray both were named first-team forwards. Besides being the Player of the Year in the conference, McCoy was a first-team midfielder. Series vs. Opponents: The Bears have never beaten any of the potential opponents in the Big Sky Tournament. NC trails Weber State 3-0-0, including a 1-0 loss to the Wildcats on Oct. 18. Northern Colorado trails Portland State by the same 3-0-0 margin, including a 1-0 loss this season on Oct. 28. NC have faired slightly better against the Hornets and trail Sacramento State 1-0-1. The Bears and Sac State tied in their game this season on Oct. 26 at the Jackson Sports Complex. The 10th Week: The Bears came into the week needing a win to qualify for the Big Sky Tournament. Northern Colorado took care of business with a 1-0 victory over visiting Northern Arizona (11/3). The win secured NC a spot in the Big Sky Tournament for the first time in school history. Sophomore Sydney Vander Velde provided the late-game heroics was a goal at the 81:51 mark. The goal was Vander Velde's fourth of the season and the second game-winner she has recorded. Freshman Heidi Owen notched her third shutout of the season in the victory. Johnson An Academic All-District Selection: Senior forward Marika Johnson, for the second time in as many seasons, was named to an ESPN The Magazine All-District 7 Team, the College Sports Information Directors (CoSIDA) announced Nov. 1. Johnson was a first-team selection this season which means she will be entered into the national ballot for All-American status. Johnson, a sport and exercise major with a 3.84 cumulative grade-point average, is tied for second on the team in assists with two to go along with her two goals for six points. She currently ranks tied for 13th in school history with 39 career points. Johnson was one of 22 players selected from District 7, which includes schools in the states of Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming, and the Canadian provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan. Selections are open to student-athletes who have reached sophomore academic standing and carry at least a 3.20 G.P.A. The university division includes Division I schools. The academic all-district team honors student-athletes who excel both on the playing field and in the classroom. The awards are sponsored by and voted on by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). As a first-team selection, Johnson will now advance to the national ballot where she will be judged against District winners from around the country. Weekly Honors For The Second Time: For the second time this season, NC had a pair of players honored by the conference on Nov. 5. NC sophomore midfielder Sydney Vander Velde was named the Co-Offensive Player of the Week, while freshman teammate Heidi Owen was named the Defensive Player of the Week by the league office on Nov. 5. Vander Velde, a sophomore from Littleton, Colorado, scored the game-winning goal against Northern Arizona on Saturday, Nov. 3. The 1-0 victory moved the Bears into third place in the conference, giving Northern Colorado their first Big Sky Tournament appearance in school history. Vander Velde's goal was her fourth of the season which ties her for the team lead. Owen, a freshman from Rolling Meadows, Ill., recorded six saves and a shutout in propelling Northern Colorado to a 1-0 victory over Northern Arizona. A loss or tie to the Lumberjacks would of meant the end of the Bears' season. This only the fourth and fifth time since joining the conference last season that NC's soccer team has had players recognized as weekly players of the week. The previous times were on Aug. 29, 2006 when former goalkeeper Chrissy Marvin was named the Co-Defensive Player of the Week and Oct. 15, 2007, as junior Teresa Prais was named the Offensive Player of the Week with senior Megan Miller taking home the weekly defensive honors. All-Big Sky Selections: Northern Colorado's soccer team had five players named to all-Big Sky teams, the conference announced, Nov. 6. The selections were made by the league's seven head coaches. Senior Megan Miller, junior Teresa Prais and senior Marika Johnson were named to the second team for the Bears. Redshirt junior Megan Bellendir and sophomore Sydney Vander Velde were honorable mention selection for NC. The three major award winners were: Offensive MVP Katie McCoy (Sacramento State), Defensive MVP Juli Edwards (Portland State), Top Newcomer Jessica Blessard (Eastern Washington). Miller, who was also a second-team selection last season, leads the team and ranks 10th in the league with three assists. She also has tallied three goals including the game-winner against Montana on Oct. 14. The senior was also named the Big Sky's Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 15 and keys a Northern Colorado defense that has only allowed a total of five goals in six games. Prais, a second team choice for the first time in her career, is tied for the team lead and ranks seventh in the conference with four goals. She also has a pair of assists for 10 points. The 10 points is tied for seventh in the league. Prais also had the game-winner against Air Force (Oct. 9). Johnson, who also was on the second team last season, has tallied two goals and two assists for four points on the year. She is also a standout in the classroom and was named to the ESPN The Magazine's All-District Team with a 3.84 grade-point average. Bellendir was an honorable mention choice for the first time. She has aided Northern Colorado's defense to 14 games of two goals or less. On the year, Bellendir has appeared in all 18 games with 10 shot attempts. Vander Velde was also an honorable-mention selection for the first time in her career. The sophomore is tied for the team lead and ranks seventh in the conference with four goals. Vander Velde scored a pair of game-winners on the year including the goal that propelled NC into the Big Sky Soccer Tournament for the first time against Northern Arizona on Nov. 3. Everyone's A Hero: In six of the seven NC wins this season a different player has scored the game-winning goal. Jessica Zimmerman scored the game-winner against Utah Valley State (9/16). Laura Engel scored the go-ahead goal against Jacksonville (9/23). Olivia Deadmond scored her first career goal against UC Irvine (9/28). Teresa Prais scored the first goal against Air Force Academy (10/9). Megan Miller put the game-winner in the back of the net against Montana (10/14). Sydney Vander Velde is the only player to net multiple game-winners. She tallied the go-ahead goals against Eastern Washington (10/12) and Northern Arizona (11/3). Close To Unbeatable: Since freshman Heidi Owen took over in goal 14 games ago the Bears are 7-4-3 and she has surrendered a total of 15 goals, while recording 74 saves in 1276:06 minutes between the pipes. In that same stretch junior Teresa Prais and sophomore Sydney Vander Velde have scored all four of their goals. In Home Games (Last Eight Weeks): The Bears did not lose a home game from Sept. 16 on and had 5-0-2 record in that stretch. Senior Megan Miller was the big contributor in that stretch with three goals and two assists despite only having a total of six shots. Sophomore Sydney Vander Velde also chipped in four goals and two game-winners during that time. The Bears have been getting to many of the loose balls and lead the corner kick category 40-17 and the shot chart 126-76. Where We Rank: In The Conference: Jessica Zimmerman was seventh in the league during conference play in shots with 18. Megan Miller ranked third during conference play with seven points. Miller also tied for second with three goals. Miller's average of 1.00 points per game was the third best in the league. Sydney Vander Velde was second in goals with three, fourth in points and points per game with seven and 0.86. She also ranked third in the league with two game-winning goals. Heidi Owen had the fourth lowest goal-against-average in the league at 0.67. Owen was also the conference leader with 46 saves and a saves-per-game average of 6.67. Just Out Of The Top 10: Jessica Zimmerman, although she has only played in 32 games in her career, is just out of NC's top 10 with her 10 career assists. She is just behind the trio of Lisa Behm (1993-96), Erin McGinnis (2000-01) and Kady Hydrick (2003-06) who have 11 each. Marika Johnson's Moving On Up: Senior forward Marika Johnson with six points this season has moved into NC's all-time leaders in points. She currently ranks 13th in points with 33 and is tied with Christine Devaney (1999-02) and Steph Stengaard (1993-96). Jessica Zimmerman is just out of the top 15 with 32 career points. She trails Deanna Castorena (1986-89) who has 35 points. Hot Streak: The Bears have been on a torrid pace over the last eight weeks (9/16-11/3) and have gone 7-4-3 in their last 14 games. That is the best stretch for NC since the 2002 season when Northern Colorado went 8-2-1 from Sept. 2-Oct. 1, 2002. The Ninth Week: Northern Colorado started the week with a 1-1 draw with Sacramento State (10/26). The Bears fell behind late in the first half but were able to tie matters up on a penalty kick from senior Megan Miller at 59:21. For Miller it was her third goal of the season. The Hornets and Bears then played the final 50:39 scoreless through a pair of overtimes. Freshman goalkeeper Heidi Owen tallied five saves in the tie for NC. The Bears then headed to Portland State for a critical match up with the Vikings (10/28). The game was scoreless until PSU was able to push a goal across in the 62nd minute (62:47). Sophomore Marcie Johnson led the NC attack with two shots on-goal. The loss dropped NC into fourth place in the conference with one game to play. The Eighth Week: The Bears opened the week by dropping a close 1-0 game to Weber State (10/18). The lone goal of the game came late in the second half (62:09) on a header off a free kick. After a slow first half the Bears were the aggressor in the second and outshot the Wildcats 12-5 in the second stanza. For the game, redshirt sophomore Jessica Zimmerman had three shots on-goal to lead the Bears. In their second game of the week, NC played Idaho State to a scoreless tie (10/20). Freshman Heidi Owen had the best game of her young career with 15 saves in recording her second shutout of the season. Zimmerman again led the team with three shots on-goal. Busy Woman: Freshman goalkeeper Heidi Owen registered a career-high 15 saves in registering a double overtime shutout of Idaho State (10/20). Her 15 saves are the most in the conference for an individual game on the year. The Seventh Week: The Bears opened conference play with a thrilling come-from-behind 3-1 victory over Eastern Washington (10/12). Northern Colorado after falling behind by a goal on a penalty kick in the first half rallied to score three goals in the second stanza. Megan Miller nailed the first one on a perfect corner kick to the upper left corner (46:00). Sydney Vander Velde was awarded a penalty kick and came up big with her second goal of the season (56:49). Teresa Prais added an insurance goal for the Bears' attack off the feed from Miller and Laura Engel. NC again was forced to play from behind in their game against Montana (10/14). Northern Colorado trailed 1-0 going into the last five minutes of regulation despite outshooting the Grizzlies by a wide margin. Vander Velde came up with the big game-tying goal on the feed from Amanda Kafer (86:34). The game went into overtime where it was quickly ended by Miller on a long blast that crept in the lower right-corner (91:06). Prais and Miller Earn Weekly Honors: Northern Colorado's soccer team, for the first time in school history, captured a pair of weekly honors by the Big Sky Conference in the same week. NC junior forward Teresa Prais was named the Offensive Player of the Week, while senior teammate Megan Miller was named the Co-Defensive Player of the Week by the league office (10/15). Prais, a junior from Bettendorf, Iowa, began her strong offensive week with two goals against Air Force on (10/9). The first of her two goals proved to be the game-winner in a 3-1 victory over the Falcons. The junior continued to shine with a goal against Eastern Washington on Oct. 12 in a 3-1 conference victory. Prais wrapped up her week by recording the assist on the game-winning goal in the 2-1 win over Montana on (10/14). On the week, Prais tallied three goals and an assist for seven points. She now leads the team with four goals and 10 points on the season. Miller, a senior from Sammamish, Wash., led the Bears defensively to wins over Air Force, Eastern Washington and Montana. As Northern Colorado's top defender, she drew the task of marking the opponents' top offensive player each game. On the week, Miller and the Bears' defense only surrendered a total of three goals. Miller also had a strong offensive showing with an assist against Air Force, an assist and a goal against Eastern Washington and the game-winning goal just into the first minute of overtime against Montana. For the week, Miller had two goals and two assists and now leads the team with three helpers. This only the second and third time since joining the conference last season that NC's soccer team has had players recognized as weekly players of the week. The previous time was on Aug. 29, 2006 when former goalkeeper Chrissy Marvin was named the Co-Defensive Player of the Week. The Sixth Week: Northern Colorado started the week with a 3-0 loss to Wyoming (10/5). The Bears offensive attack was led by junior Teresa Prais, who registered five shots in the loss. NC got back at it early the next week (10/9) with a makeup game against the Air Force Academy. Marika Johnson scored the first goal just before the 24 minute mark (23:54). She rebounded a loose ball in front of the net and beat the keeper from five-yard out to the right side. Prais scored the first of her two goals just over five minutes later (29:16), when she took the brilliant pass from Laura Engel and beat the keeper to the right side. Prais would score her second goal (35:08) of the game on perfect corner kick from Megan Miller. Freshman Heidi Owen saved three attempts for her fourth victory of the season. Scoring in Bunches Almost To The Day: The two goals by Teresa Prais against Air Force (10/9) was the first time a Northern Colorado played has reached the back of the net twice in a game since Marcie Johnson tallied a pair of goals against Montana (10/8/2006). Prais now leads the team with four goals on the season. The Fifth Week: Northern Colorado started the week, Sept. 28-30, with a thrilling 2-1 victory at the Air Force Invitational over UC Irvine (9/28). NC found itself trailing just a minute into the game. Teresa Prais tied the game up as she knocked in a loss ball in front of the net (35:32) for her first goal of the season. Olivia Deadmond picked a great time for her first career goal early in the second half (60:16). NC held on for the 2-1 win and extended their unbeaten streak to a season long four. The Bears looking to capitalize on the momentum instead fell behind 2-0 early in the game against the North Dakota State (9/30). NC kept fighting though and ended up outshooting the Bisons 10-5, but trailed on the all important scoreboard. 2-0. Patricia Wong and Laura Engel led the team with two shots each. The Fourth Week: The Bears had their best week of the year from Sept. 21-23. Northern Colorado went undefeated with a 2-2 tie against Akron (9/21) and a 2-1 win over Jacksonville (9/23). In the game against Akron, NC fought back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the game on goals from senior Marika Johnson and sophomore Laura Engel. Freshman goalkeeper Heidi Owen then did the rest, as she held the potent Akron offense scoreless for the last 97:49 of the game through a pair of overtime periods. In the game against the Dolphins, Northern Colorado despite outshooting Jacksonville still found themselves trailing 1-0 early in the second half. Sophomore Sydney Vander Velde tied the game up with her first goal of the season off the pass from junior Patricia Wong and sophomore Jessica Zimmerman. The game remained knotted at one and looked to be heading to overtime until Engel stepped up and chipped in the game-winner with only :47 left in the game. For Engel it was her second goal of the week and the season and allowed the Bears to extended their unbeaten streak to three. A Prime-Time Player: Sophomore Laura Engel stepped up at the right times for the Bears against Akron and Jacksonville, the week of Sept. 21-23. Engel scored the game-tying goal against the Zips (9/21) and she topped herself with the game-winner in the final minute against Jacksonville (9/23). Engel also put several crosses directly in front of the net in potential scoring situations. On the week she had two goals and four points to lead the Bears in both categories. The Third Week: NC started their four-game homestand and took on Fresno State (9/14). The Bulldogs proved to be a tough opponent jumping out to a 2-0 advantage before the end of the first half. Fresno State would add another goal in the second stanza to take the game 3-0. The bright spot of the Bears was the first appearance of the season by freshman keeper Heidi Owen. Owen is officially the last member of NC to get in a game this season. She played the entire second period in goal with a goal allowed and three saves for Northern Colorado. The Bears then welcomed in Utah Valley State to Jackson Stadium (9/16). NC proved to be the aggressor as they peppered the Wolverines with shots throughout the first half. In the first half alone the Bears set a then season-best for shots in entire game with 11, but UVSU stood strong and keep the game scoreless well into the second half. Finally with just under 10 minutes left in the game (80:25), sophomore Jessica Zimmerman gave the Bears the lead for good with her goal off a free kick from about 30 yards out. For Zimmerman it was her second goal of the season. The goal along with some stellar defense clinched the Bears' first win of the season. Owen started in goal for the Bears and got the win with six saves. For the game, Northern Colorado outshot Utah Valley State 24-9. Zimmerman Gets It Done: Nice Way To Start Rook: In the first start of her career, freshman Heidi Owen made her presence known in goal. Owen earned the team's first win of the season over Utah Valley State (9/16). Owen was solid in goal with six saves for her first collegiate shutout. The Second Week: The Bears had their game against Air Force (9/5) postponed due to weather issues. The game was made up (10/9) and resulted in a 3-1 NC victory. NC then headed to Denver to play against the regionally-ranked Pioneers (9/8). Northern Colorado quickly got down 1-0 in the first half (14:30), only to tie the game up at one just over a minute later (15:51) on Brittani Knott's first career goal. The Pioneers regained the lead at the end of the first half and added three more goals in the second stanza to win the game going away by the final margin of 5-1. The First of Many: Brittani Knott scored her first Bears' goal in the loss to Denver (9/8). The freshman took the feed from senior Marika Johnson and beat the DU goalkeeper. She was the second Bears player to find the back of the net this season. The First Week: The first week began promising for the Bears as redshirt sophomore Jessica Zimmerman, in her first game in over a year, scored the team's first goal of the season against Creighton (8/31). The Bluejays stormed back though with a pair of goals in the second half to take the game 2-1. In their second game the Bears put up a good effort but were done in by solid all-around performance from Western Carolina (9/2). The Catamounts tallied a goal in the first half and added three more in the second to take the game 4-0. Good To See You Again: Redshirt sophomore Jessica Zimmerman made her return to the pitch in a big way for the Bears. Zimmerman started the NC season scoring a goal off a free kick from 30 yards out against Creighton (8/31). Zimmerman, who sat out the 2006 season, was the 2005 Division I Independent Offensive Player of the Year and is looking to possible capture Big Sky Conference honors this season. The Tuneup Before The Season: The Bears hosted a pair of opponents at Jackson Stadium in exhibition games before the official start of the 2007 regular season. NC fell to regionally-ranked Colorado College by the score of 3-2 (8/23). Sophomore Sydney Vander Velde and sophomore Laura Engel each scored goals for Northern Colorado in defeat. The next game was a challenge against No. 14 Colorado (8/25). The Bears hung tough for a while but were done in by three opponent goals in each half. The highlight for NC was a brilliant header by redshirt sophomore Jessica Zimmerman off freshman Brittani Knott's corner kick. Early Success: The Bears have traditionally been strong starters and are 15-7-1 all-time in the first regular season game of the season since the start of the program in 1985. Under Barrera the team is 5-2 in the last seven opening days. Northern Colorado Picked Seventh in the Big Sky Preseason Poll: The University of Northern Colorado's women's soccer team has been picked seventh in the Big Sky Conference's annual poll, the league office announced August 8. Sacramento State, who won the regular season crown in 2006, are considered the preseason favorite with 40 points. The Bears, who finished seventh in the conference in 2006, tallied 15 points. Who's Back: The Bears return 16 players including five starters from last season's team. Among the returners are leading goal scorer senior Marika Johnson. Marika Johnson tallied seven goals and 16 points to lead the team in both categories last year. Also returning to the pitch is the team's leading scorer from 2005, redshirt sophomore Jessica Zimmerman. Zimmerman sat out last season, but in 2005 she tallied team high's of nine goals and nine assists on her way to being named the Division I Independent Offensive Player of the Year. The Newbies: Northern Colorado has 10 new faces on the roster this season including a pair of new assistant coaches. Lisa Kosena (Denver, Colo./Cal State Fullerton)-assistant coach Andrea Allison (Loveland, Colo./Thompson Valley)-defender Katey Borman (Corvallis, Ore./Corvallis)-defender Olivia Deadmond (Ft. Collins, Colo./Ft. Collins)-defender/midfielder Kaitlyn Gould (Bend, Ore./Bend Senior)-defender/midfielder Brittani Knott (Greeley, Colo./Northridge)-defender/midfielder Heidi Owen (Rolling Meadows, Ill./Rolling Meadows)-goalkeeper Monique Wells (Chandler, Ariz./Mesa Community College)-goalkeeper Karleigh Zolinski (San Antonio, Texas/O'Connor)-defender/midfielder The Coaching Staff: Tim Barrera returns for his ninth season at the helm of the Northern Colorado soccer program. In his now nine years with the Bears, Barerra has a record of 85-71-9 (.545). Overall in 15 seasons as a head coach, Barrera has gone 146-113-12 (.556) at Northern Colorado, Elmira and Wilkes University. Tracy Chao returns for her third season with the program as an assistant. The staff has also added Lisa Kosena as an assistant coach this season. 2006 All-Big Sky Performers: UNC in the first year as official members of the Big Sky Conference had five players named to All-Big Sky teams. Senior Marika Johnson and senior Megan Miller were both selected to the second team with junior Teresa Prais and since departed Chrissy Marvin and Lynneal Williams being honorable mention choices. Eight Bears Named To Big Sky All-Academic Team: The Bears had eight players named to the Big Sky Conference's 2006 Fall All-Academic Team. The nine were Sara Hemmings, Marcie Johnson, Marika Johnson, Lynneal Williams, Kady Hydrick, Amanda Kafer, Chrissy Marvin and Annie Osborne. In order to be selected to the team the chosen eight had to 1) participate in at least half the team competition; 2) achieve a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) at the conclusion of the completed term; 3) complete at least one academic term at his/her current institution. Johnson A 2006 Academic All-District Selection: University of Northern Colorado senior forward Marika Johnson was named to the 2006 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Women's Soccer University Division District 7 second team, selected by CoSIDA in the fall of 2006. Johnson had a cumulative 3.74 grade-point average in her major of sport and exercise science. Johnson was one of 22 players selected from District 7, which includes schools in the states of Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming, and the Canadian provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan. Selections were open to student-athletes who have reached sophomore academic standing and carry at least a 3.20 G.P.A. The academic all-district team honors student-athletes who excel both on the playing field and in the classroom. The awards are sponsored by and voted on by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Up Next: Northern Colorado's soccer team, if they can pick up two wins at the conference tournament, will advance into the NCAA Tournament for the first time since moving up to Division I.
