CHENEY, Wash. - Northern Colorado's women's tennis team fell to 3-9 Saturday, March 8, with a 6-1 defeat to Big Sky team Eastern Washington.

 

The Eagles improved to 6-5 overall with the win and 3-0 in Big Sky matches. Northern Colorado is winless in the conference. The Bears came into the match after losing 4-3 to Idaho on Friday, March 7.

 

Tabatha Knop and Manuela Santos got the Bears off on the right foot against the Eagles, taking down Eastern Washington's top pair 8-6. Northern Colorado's next two doubles teams, though, were unable to continue the momentum.

 

The Bears didn't get their first point of the dual until Jodi Ciarvella won at No. 6 singles after the Eagles No. 6 player retired.

 

Northern Colorado was much more competitive against the Vandals. Knop and Santos won at doubles in this match, too, and Tabatha Knop and her sister, Tiffany, both won in singles play. Jodi Ciarvella also won, giving the Bears their three dual points.
